6 Ways to Represent Jesus in Your Daily Life
There is a lot of pressure that comes with being a Christian. Whether you’ve been a believer for years or are just now getting to know Jesus, you’ve probably experienced the expectations and requirements that come along with being a Jesus follower.
Although Jesus came to fulfill the law, we can sometimes get a little lost in exactly what that means. When there are so many opinions about how to represent Jesus in our daily lives, how do we really get down to the core of what Jesus taught?
Today we’re sharing a grace-filled approach for how you can follow Jesus in your daily life in a way that honors the Word of God and remains genuine to who you are.
If you’re struggling to understand how you can better represent your faith to your friends and family, try some of these tips!
1) Share Your Testimony Often
Before you launch into the entire (amazing!) story about how God captured your heart, it’s important to recognize that a testimony isn’t always your salvation story. In fact, to unbelieving friends, your testimony of salvation may be overwhelming.
What you can easily and confidently share with unbelieving friends is a small testimony of God’s faithfulness to you. Talk about the miracles that have happened in your life: when a check showed up at your door with just enough money to pay your bills, when God provided the exact tool that you needed to complete a job, and when you prayed for a friend and God showed up.
Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony.”
This testimony isn’t only the testimony of salvation—it’s the proof of God’s continued faithfulness through every step of our lives.
2) Love Everyone Unconditionally
The Bible has a lot to say about love. The Word of God says that acts of charity and even gifts of the Holy Spirit are nothing without love. Love is what drove Jesus to the cross for us. It is what continues to compel Him to care for us and provide for our every need.
God is love. When we become His children, we naturally become more like Him—just like you have certain traits that have been passed down to you by your parents.
Without God, unconditional love is impossible. When you live a life that shows unconditional love to your neighbors, friends, family, and even your enemies, you naturally welcome other people to experience what it’s like to be a child of God.
3) Be the First to Forgive
While forgiveness is a pillar of the Christian faith, the act of forgiving your offenders never gets any easier. The good news is, we don’t have to rely on our own strength to forgive those who have wronged us—we have the Holy Spirit working alongside us.
Forgiveness isn’t just a gift that you give to someone else. It’s a gift that you give yourself, too. Once you forgive someone, you are set free and renewed—no longer dragged down by the darkness of the past.
Forgiveness is one way to represent your faith because it shows a picture of what Jesus did for us.
4) Don’t Show Favoritism
In the book of James, God makes it very clear that we should never show partiality (or favoritism) to people based on their wealth, power, or status. This Biblical principle demonstrates that everyone is equal in the sight of God. We have all sinned, and we are all actively being redeemed by Jesus. This means there’s no distinction between you and another believer—we’re all the same.
The idea of refusing to show favoritism was extremely revolutionary during Biblical times. Often, the rich and the poor were separated, and people had to remain with their own class. The early church shows us that God’s love is so powerful it can actually shift culture.
“If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself,’ you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the Law as violators.” — James 2:8–9
5) Remember That Your Representation of Jesus Is about the Inward Heart
It’s easy to do all the right things on the outside. Read your Bible, go to small group, and talk about what you learned during last week’s sermon. But even more than you checking all the boxes, God cares about the state of your heart.
It’s not just God who notices, either. Other people can tell when you’re not genuine about your faith. So be real.
The best way to represent the truth and character of Jesus is to be yourself. Be honest about your struggles and temptations—and be just as honest about how Jesus has changed you for the better.
6) Wear Something That Sparks Conversations about Your Faith
We believe an outward announcement of faith is something that comes from an inner connection to Jesus. Wearing something like a Christian graphic tee or women’s Christian hoodie can build trust with the unbelievers you come in contact with. It can spark conversations and even give you the chance to share your testimony.
This is why we started our work as a Christian clothing brand—because we truly believe that Christian t-shirts make a difference.
We also believe that you should be empowered to take on your daily life as a mission field, using biblically sound doctrine and the love of Jesus to confidently share your faith whenever someone asks.
