5 Love-Focused Ways to Share Your Faith at School

5 Love-Focused Ways to Share Your Faith at School

As a Christian student in public school, you’ve learned all the survival tactics.

You know how to handle inappropriate gossip at lunch.

And your parents made sure you knew all the facts about the creation story.

But somewhere in the mix of scripture memory and basic apologetics, you lost your focus. Christian ministry went from love-focused leadership to faith-based defense.

You prioritized survival and put love on the backburner.

But it’s not too late to change that.

Here’s the truth: God already gave you everything you need to guard your heart in school. When you’re left speechless in the hallway, He will give you the words to say.

When you came to know Jesus, He gave you an overflow of love to share with others. It’s time to switch gears, open up your guarded heart, and give freely from the love you have.

Here’s How to Share Your Faith with Love as the Focus

In 1 Corinthians 13:1, it says, “If I speak with the tongues of mankind and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.”

Paul is saying that if you are a witness for Jesus but don’t actively love your neighbor, you’re just making noise. Later, Paul shows us exactly what love looks like in the famous passage 1 Corinthians 13:4–7:

“Love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous; love does not brag, it is not arrogant. It does not act disgracefully, it does not seek its own benefit; it is not provoked, does not keep an account of a wrong suffered, it does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; it keeps every confidence, it believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

1) Use Your Testimony to Share Jesus

We’re not just talking about the series of events that led you to know Jesus. That is a powerful way to share, but we want you to think a little more creatively!

Talk to your science partner about a time this week when you prayed and God provided. When you’re having lunch with your best friends, tell them how God showed his presence during your bad body image day.

There won’t always be time to share a full testimony with your friends . . . and you might not feel comfortable sharing yours yet. These “popcorn” testimony ideas are very low stakes (and low anxiety), but they make a big impact!

If your friends haven’t grown up in the church, they may not understand the significance of a full testimony. But they will understand what it’s like to have someone show up during a time of need.

And maybe next time they need provision, they’ll pray for it.

2) Offer to Pray with Your Friend Before a Big Event

When you pray with a friend, you allow God to speak for Himself. And honestly, sometimes in our faith-sharing journeys, we put too much pressure on ourselves.

If your friend expresses nervousness about an upcoming test or event, take that opportunity to pray. Ask for God to meet your friend right where they’re at and to provide what they need.

See what God does! He’ll probably surprise both you and your friend.

3) Prioritize Love and Action Over Words

There are a lot of Christians out there sharing the Gospel with the wrong motives. We all do it sometimes, right? We want to sound smart or impress a fellow Christian. But having the wrong motives can really hurt our witness.

Like Paul said, actions matter. The best witness is the person who leads with love and action first. Leading with action means being authentic. It’s about making bold choices. Providing for someone’s physical needs. Standing up to a bully.

4) Reject Perfectionism and Choose Authenticity

It’s so easy to lean on perfectionism when you’re living the Christian life. We can take the Bible’s guidelines and make them our entire personality. Let’s be honest—it even feels good to be the perfect Christian.

But there’s a big difference between choosing perfectionism and choosing the Holy Spirit to lead your life (hint: the Holy Spirit is better).

It’s hard for your friends at school to identify with someone who has their life all together. What if being a Christian was less about showing off your perfect life and more about showing God’s redemption in the middle of your mess?

God meets you where you’re at. So meet your friends where they’re at—and don’t be afraid to show them a little authenticity.

5) Wear Christian Graphic Tees to Your Sports Events

Stylish Christian clothes are always an appropriate way to share your faith. Whether you’re an active school athlete or you can barely drag yourself through PE, a Christian graphic tee will let everyone know that you’re a safe person to talk to about Jesus. And for many people who have questions about church and Jesus, this is a great conversation starter.

This is why we created our faith-based clothing company—because we’ve seen the impact that Christian graphic tees have on unbelievers.

If you feel anxious about approaching others, Christian graphic tees can make you seem approachable. It’s a way to bring people directly to you. And maybe for your friend, it’s a sign from God.

With Faith Center Co. and many other faith-based clothing companies, your purchase of a Christian graphic tee will help other ministries share the Gospel, too.
