3 Practical Ways to Strengthen Your Faith from the Inside Out

3 Practical Ways to Strengthen Your Faith from the Inside Out

God does not see as man sees, since man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).

Helping you strengthen your faith and share the Gospel through Christian merch is one of the most exciting things about being part of Faith Center Co. Even greater than our love for Christian t-shirts and scripture hoodies, our hearts fill with joy at the idea of you building and cultivating your inner person.

In the age of social media and online church broadcasting, it’s easy to believe the lie that you’re only an effective Christian if you have a platform. But this couldn’t be further from the truth. Sure, God might call you to speak on a stage or leave your comfort zone at times. But so much more than your ministry, He is interested in capturing your heart.

In Ezekiel 36:26, God says, “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.”

The Spirit is constantly at work—looking to embrace your heart and strengthen your faith from the inside first.

George Müller famously wrote, “The point is this: I saw more clearly than ever, that the first great and primary business to which I ought to attend every day was, to have my soul happy in the Lord. The first thing to be concerned about was not, how much I might serve the Lord, how I might glorify the Lord; but how I might get my soul into a happy state, and how my inner man might be nourished.

Inspired by George Müller and other well-known Christians, here are some practical ways you can strengthen your inner self:

1) Learn the Art of Habit Pairing and Apply it to Your Spiritual Life

Turn your hot girl walk into a prayer walk.

Transform your lunchtime prayer into an intentional moment with God.

Listen to a spiritual podcast at the gym.

. . . all while wearing Christian gym apparel from Faith Center Co of course!

Habit pairing helps you establish brand new habits by pairing them with old ones. Forming new habits can be difficult, but habit pairing allows you to ease into your new lifestyle without disrupting your routine.

We are an all-or-nothing society. It’s common for modern-day Christians to assume that their time with God has to be fully devoted to him—or it’s less meaningful. But that’s not the case.

For centuries, God has met people during their daily chores. He has heard their prayers during elbow-deep dishwashing and hour-long car rides. He is just as present when you’re weeding your garden as He is when you’re on your knees at the side of your bed.

Choose to devote your time during daily tasks to God.  You’ll notice that your spiritual life becomes richer, and your soul is more nourished.

2) Post Scripture Verses Around the House

Embrace your creative side and apply it to your Bible study practices. By posting scripture verses around your house, you can encourage your soul throughout the day—or work on an important memory verse.

We recommend using verses that speak to you in the moment. For instance, if you struggle with body shame, post Psalms on your bedroom mirror that speak the truth about how God sees you.

If you hate doing the dishes, put verses about serving above the kitchen sink to remind you that you’re doing a holy thing.

Bible Study Hack: This is a great method for someone who doesn’t do well with typical memory work. If you read the same scripture verse a few times a day, your mind will automatically start to remember it.

3) Commit to Spending Time with God in a Way That Works for You

Whether it’s through meditation, prayer, or Bible reading, it’s important to commit some time to God throughout your day. What first pops into your head when you think of quiet time? Is it a dogmatic ritual that requires you wake up with the sun and spend two hours reading through genealogies in Leviticus? Yeah, that sounds boring.

Spending time with God is a pleasure and a joy—if you learn how to do it the right way.

The best way to incorporate Bible study into your life is to find something that works for you. Choose books of the Bible that interest you. Read in the morning, on your lunch break, or after the sun goes down. Set an alarm and change up your reading times throughout the week. Whatever you do, make your goal not just to check off Bible reading from your to-do list but to really find soul happiness (as George Müller says) in the Lord.

Your Outward Appearance Is a Reflection of Your Inner Self

The reason we’re so passionate about Christian t-shirts and apparel? We believe your outward appearance is a reflection of the inner you who has been changed by Jesus.

If you’re a Christian, then you know. Once you’ve experienced Jesus, it’s impossible not to share Him with the world. It becomes a joy, not a duty. Christian t-shirts are one way to share Jesus—and we’re happy to offer eco-friendly and fair trade options that look and feel amazing.

Just remember, your inner heart comes first.
